i Sea i Care Program

Through our STEM class at St John’s, interested senior students were asked to submit a letter of application to demonstrate their interest in becoming Ambassadors for the ‘ i sea, i care’ Program. This also entailed parental approval due to the involvement of excursions and some associated costs for the program.

The award-winning i sea i care program was developed by the Dolphin Research Institute to showcase to Victorians that “what lives around our coast is too precious to lose”.

The i sea i care program engages Primary School children to develop their leadership as marine champions for Victoria by providing real and relevant experiences that enrich student Ambassadors and their school community.

‘i sea, i care’ Ambassadors not only have a duty to share and inform their own school community but also, through the support of their school, to branch out into the wider community in sharing what they have learnt.

Peyton, a newly engaged Ambassador, explains that ‘ i sea i care is an organisation to help raise awareness. It is all about marine life and how to keep the oceans free of rubbish’. Her big take away from experiences so far is to ‘Take three from the sea’, explaining further that if we each picked up three pieces of rubbish from our shorelines, it would make a huge difference!
